10 THINGS WE CAN DO TO BECOME BETTER DURING COVID

Every day I think about how I can become a better version of myself tomorrow than I am today. We, humans, are psychologically wired to think about what next. We want to keep ourselves occupied either recreationally or intellectually. Our minds are running at our respective paces thinking about our past, our present, and our future. It is quite fun when we are doing what we want to do and what makes us happy. There are ups and downs in life, for if not for the downs we wouldn’t realize the value of the ups. 

There are two sides to the same coin, sometimes we look at one side, while other times we look at the other side. The situations make us what we are but it is also how we choose to react or respond to those situations that make us who we are. So to not overthink and instead get into action, I thought of ten things that I could do to not get bored and keep myself occupied holistically. 

  1. Learn a new skill set

Learning a new skill always tops the list. It could be anything being cooking, gardening, learning a new language, personal growth, dance, singing, making videos, making soaps, baking, and so on. Learn about whatever interests you and what makes you happy. Anything that you learn, stays with you forever.

  1. Meditate

Meditation is an important aspect of our peace of mind. It helps to calm down our minds and get rid of all the unnecessary thoughts. Meditation is therapeutic. It is healing and energizing. It has the power to move you into your shell as well as the power to turn you into a ball of sizzling energy. 

  1. Exercise

Exercise is important for us both physically and mentally. It is a form of rejuvenation that helps maintain our mental and emotional health. It keeps us occupied in the best way possible and also keeps us healthy. You could do yoga or just play some songs and dance. 

  1. Spend quality time with friends and family

We, humans, are social beings and go mad when left alone for long periods. Also, having to talk to the same people throughout the day could get taxing. So spend some quality time with your family, speak to your friends and extended family over the phone or via video calls. Spend some time with yourself introspecting or learning something new. Distribute your time and keep yourself occupied in different activities throughout the day. 

  1. Go Digital

In today’s world, Go Digital is the trend. Buy your stuff online. Use Social media but consciously. Put yourselves out there and try to figure out how you can use the internet productively to expand your knowledge and yourself as a person. Broaden your horizon and let go.

  1. Write a book

Writing can be a stress reliever as much as it could get stressful if you are having writer’s block. But if there is too much on your mind there is nothing better than writing that can heal you. 

  1. Self Introspection

The basic motto for me is, “Life is too short to live with regrets.” We often regret the decisions we don’t make than the decisions that we do make. This is the best time for Self-introspection. Think about what mistakes you have done in the past and how you want to rectify them. Let go of your ego and mend broken relationships, fix your habits and fix yourself. Forgiveness is the best gift you can give yourself under current circumstances.

  1. Think futuristic

You have a  lot of time on your hands now. Think about how you want your life to be. Think about what you could do right now to prepare yourself for what you want to become. For example, if you want to become a translator, then you can start learning a new language right now.

  1. Self Improvement 

Self-improvement is key. It is the only solution to all problems in life. You are the only one who can change yourself. Nobody else can. So think about how you could become a better person.

  1. Take a Vacation at our home 

Recreation is very important. You can read books, watch movies with your family or friends. You could just cook and chill. Everything that you would do at a vacation home or when you book an Airbnb for yourselves somewhere and remove yourselves from the pressures of the world. Just do that in the safety of your own home. There is no better place on this planet other than your own home to create more beautiful memories.

Just connect with whatever you are doing and it’ll flow through you making you lose yourself and help you gain another level of confidence. Many say that it is sufficient to stay alive in the pandemic but that’s not true. It is important to live. It is not enough to just survive. The reason for our life is to feel alive. 

Putting into action any or all of these ten things in any combination of your choice will definitely make you feel alive and that’s the motto of this article.
